Right Foods and Exercise: The Basic Steps Toward A Healthy Living

Heart disease is said to be the leading cause of death in the United States, with a staggering number of 652,091 people who die each year, followed by cancer and strokes. Because of this, people should value their health more and make sure they observe the basic steps toward a healthy living.

Eat the Right Foods

This is considered the most important step to heart disease prevention and healthy living in general. However, this is also deemed as the most difficult since most people cannot do away with fats, salts, and sugar when eating. They just taste so good and are so convenient, so people find them hard to resist. But if you are really willing to achieve a healthy living, increasing fiber and vegetable intake will not be too much of a burden. In fact, you don’t have to completely give up eating your favorite foods, all you need to do is to eat a balanced meal everyday.

But aside from eating a balanced diet, you may also go for raw food diet or sunfood diet, which is all about eating uncooked or unprocessed foods. Raw food diet may include foods like raw cashews, raw cocoa, goji berries, and healthy snacks and treats such as almonds, acai cacao truffle bar, and apricot kernels. This is proven to give people many health benefits, especially when combined with fresh juices and supplements. However, you don’t have to go for 100% raw, 70% to 80% is enough, since various cooked foods can also provide you with the nutrients that your body needs.

Exercise

Regular exercise is one important factor for healthy living. It may not be everyday, but at least 30 minutes a day, four days a week. Walking is said to be the best exercise. Nowadays, with the onset of advanced technology, people often find themselves too tired to walk like going up to the second floor or going to another block to buy something. This should not be the case since walking is a cardiovascular exercise which is effective at ensuring your heart’s health. And this, together with biking, running, dancing, and swimming, can reduce your risk of injury, diseases, and sickness.

Eating the right foods and observing regular exercise can really do a lot to keep you healthy all throughout your life. Who says healthy living is difficult to achieve? Keep these two basic steps in mind and you are off to a healthier you.
